flour sack before and after
Our local flour comes in this fabulous cotton sack. Over the years, I've done lots of things with it. Pillows for my boys twin beds, a little curtain for a kitchen cabinet, and currently it's the 'mattress' for Della's doll bed.
I'm almost done with this one.
Lewis requested a Weezie pound cake yesterday.
He was measuring out three cups of evil white flour while rollerblading and said, “Oh, I love this bag, can I have it when we’re done?”
"Sure.” said me. "What’re you gonna do with it?”
“Put a long strap on it and make a lunch bag.” said he.
"Now, that’s a good idea!” said she. (Della)
"I agree!”
Yes, I’ll stop this nonsense. Thanks for humoring me.
But seriously, that’s a great idea and he will be the very epi-center of awesome with his retro flour sack lunch bag.
Here is the flour sack as the star of Della’s doll bed. Yes, that’s a ‘Della’ doll. I made it a few years ago and she looks sort of cross-eyed today, doesn’t she? She sees a lot of action, for sure.
Do you want a flour sack? I’ll send you one. Tell me what you’d do with it in the comment section and I’ll choose randomly on Saturday.

ReplyDeleteshe succeeded! rosie’s stroller is around here somewhere! can’t wait to see Col....i’m there on thursday!
:) I love my flour sacks. I keep thinking I am going to make some funky purse with it and send it to a friend. I love the Della Doll. Are you all in love with Nora yet? She's a magic lady.
ReplyDeleteHow cool to get flour in a "real" sack! I would love to be entered. I think I would love to make a doll and bedding for the wee one here!xx
ReplyDeleteIvey,
ReplyDeleteI think that 'reuse' of the flour sack is awesome. Our co-op here in the Twin Cities just has boring old paper ones. I would definitely love to do my own set of flour sack tea towels for fun! I can't find the nice bright colors in the 'vintage' ones around.
Please enter me and give your children so many kisses they squirm. Gack! They are cute.
Hi Ivey! Ooooo I love all the fun ideas!! My mom loves everything bluebird :) She's even working on a children's book about her bluebirds! So I think I would make her an adorable ruffled apron skirt out of that sweet flour sack!
ReplyDeleteOooo Ivey....please add me in the pile of I would love the flour sack ......I would frame it and hang it in my kitchen....
ReplyDeletei have one of those flour sacks that i use as a bread bag - they are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI would use the delightful flour sack as a cozy liner in my kitten's bed. It will get cool here SOMEDAY in South Georgia and they will need something to snuggle in! I think they would enjoy seeing that bird...would inspire dreams of chasing one like it in the back yard.
