{this moment}....the crib

I got your attention when I said that one of my children didn’t live in the house. Maybe I should kick them all out and get a reality TV show. Max lives in ‘The Crib’. The interior was not fit for a photo shoot, so today you just get the outside. The truth is, it’s one of the nicer ‘rooms’ near the house.

He and Lew shared a room and it was getting tight. They bickered sometimes. Unusual, I know.

Add me a room, Max said.

Normally, we would consider such a request. We ain’t scared to bust out a wall.

But the landlord might object, mightn’t he?

The grandparents were shifting around their out buildings and I boldly asked for the one that was getting relocated to the back forty.

They are awesome and said 'take it’!

Here ’tis.

Wait till you see the inside. It’s super cozy and the envy of all his friends.

It seriously has million dollar views.

We all sleep out there when he let's us.

I find this amusing. Our neighbors at the bottom of the driveway are building a funny little structure in their backyard. (They have a boy in Max’s class)

"Whatcha building?” Matt asked

You guessed it.

A crib.

  1. Oh, my son would be so jealous! He has taken lately to sleeping in our basement, which I guess is the closest he can come to having his own crib. I just keep wondering how permanent this is going to be (it's been going on since June), because his actual bedroom would make a fitting craft studio.....

  2. Uhm... so, yeah... I'm gonna need a floor plan, and some basics on the basics... lighting? Insulation? Permitting? Never made the permitting. Our city struggles with its (lack) of imagination, so we try not to confuse them too much.
My husband and I shared a crib when a family house was bursting... I miss it!
    Yours looks awesome.

PS- Thank you for the kind words, I really needed them today [more than you can know].

  4. Love this! What a great idea. We are reading through the box car children right now, and while the stories are really simple- the kids need to love on their own rings so true. I can not wait to see the inside!

  5. That's awesome. I would have thought I'd died and gone to heaven if I had my own crib in the backyard when I was 12. So cool!
