On the home front, there is a new favorite cake. It’s a Daddy creation and it was awesome! He often chooses things that I would never look twice at, and isn’t that what makes the world go round?! This is a Milky Way Cake. It has twelve milky way bars and untold amounts of butter fat. It called for a marshmallow cream icing and I did have to put the kabash on that, primarily because it would have meant a trip into town on a cold wintry night, but it also sounded a little gross. He went with a pecan cream cheese frosting instead and nailed it. I’ve never liked Milky Way bars, so don’t let that get in your way if you’re looking for a jump start on your holiday weight gain.
This recipe is very similar to the one Matt used. His came out of his favorite cookbook, a classic Southern tome called Cotton Country, that his grandmother gave us years ago, but I am linking you to a Paula Dean recipe, I think. I love to imitate Paula. Love it. Her accent is unreal and I get started and can. not. stop. Then the kids start in. We all work hard at perfecting our accents. It helps with our alter egos. Make sure you change the icing. And drink a bottle of wine in the process. And de-stroy the kitchen. And water your damn house plants, please. And change the lighting in your kitchen so it doesn’t look like a Soviet bus station.
I think that’s all.
Have a lovely weekend, folks.
I know this cake! It's a wonderuful recipe.
ReplyDeleteI just love Paula Dean and she is as nice in person as on tv. Accent? What is this accent you speak of? [ha] Have you eaten at her place in Savannah? Oh my!
xx
LOL! You are hilarious. I've never been in a Soviet bus station, but I reckon your kitchen is much more inviting. Now I am off to read about your soup fiasco. Have a great weekend y'all!
