some news and some Christmas links

Let’s catch up on some news and then share some link love, shall we.

First off! I have a new job. As of this weekend, I am a ski instructor at our local ski hill, Purgatory. They have actually changed the name from Purgatory to Durango Mountain Resort, but I’m old school and fickle and can’t imagine ditching a name as good as Purgatory for one as boring as Durango Mountain Resort. Apparently, someone made the mistake of doing some market research and Purgatory left a bad taste in the mouth of those skiers coming from the bible belt. Does Purgatory make you think of HELL? How ‘bout satan? Have you been bad? Me, too. :) Let me stop before they fire me.

So if you’re planning a ski trip, come see me! Let me teach you how to ski. Or your kids. Durango really is a great ski destination because the town itself is so delightful and offers so much.

Because of the new job, I am going to have to change the date for the Patton family Scavenger Hunt. It’s still a go, but it might have to move till after the holidays or at least to a day that I’m not working. Stay tuned for developments!

Now for some awesome links.

This one is mandatory. Stop what your doing and listen to every word of this song. It’s poetry. Mind blowing really....at least it touched me that way.

Here is a fun, free, desktop download for December.

This is an awesome free printable for your Christmas tags.

I love this idea for a one dimensional kid’s Christmas tree.

These are photos from a guest ranch in Texas. Can I just move in, please?

Do you read Rachel? You should.

This Sunday the program for our youth group at church is The Miracle of Duct Tape. It’s sort of a craft lollapalooza for teens to make gifts for their families. One of our awesome guys is teaching us how to make duct tape wallets for Dad. For Mom’s gift, I’m helping them with this. And they will make these for a special teacher, coach, neighbor, etc. Should be fun! This is certainly one of my favorite ‘jobs’!

If you are doing any Christmas baking this weekend check this out...a smorgasbord of sweet ideas!

Have a lovely weekend, all!

    Oh, you crack me up.
I also can not bring myself to call it DMR. Even my kids, who've never been skiing, call it Purgatory.

  6. You go to St. Marks? We started going a few weeks ago, and missed the last 2 Sundays, but we will be there this Sunday! Maybe we will see you!

  9. I would so much rather ski at a hill called Purgatory. Darn Chamber of Commerce for changing that. Great post.

  10. Well, the Dawes family likes the Dawes song. We regret that we missed the show when they came to town.
Hells yes you should keep flying that Purgatory flag! Have fun on the slopes for us. Skiing in Virginia is downright pitiful.
I like the tag that says *shiny* :)
