comfrey leaf lotion...i use it as my facial moisturizer, too. |
I am not one of those girls that goes crazy for beauty products. Ask my mom. She says things like.... "Oh Ivey, you could be attractive if you'd wear a little make-up." My beauty regime, if it even merits that name, is quite simple. I brush my teeth, moisturize, sunscreen, and pull my mop back into a ponytail. If I'm going to a meeting I might put on mascara. That's it.
I don't like to think about it too often, but the wild west does a number on your skin. High Altitude, a mega dry climate, and being outdoors constantly, is a bad combination, and we gals out here are aging faster than you girls back east. (Just our skin, OK, don't go getting all cocky.) :)
But I have a solution and I am clinging to it.
Say Hello to the Super Salve Co.
Say Hello to the Super Salve Co.
Never in my life, have I contacted a company to say hi and thank you and bless your soul, not until the other day. I figured that while I was at it, I'd throw the sponsor idea out there, and within the day, Denise, the owner of the company had written back.
Denise is the herbal goddess behind the amazing product line...Super Salve. Everything she makes is pure love. You read the ingredients and they are an inspired concoction of total goodness. The list starts off with 'purified mountain rain water' and only gets better. See?
Her sunscreen is a must have. There are lots of natural sunscreens out there, but this one is the real McCoy! It's spf 30 and I have no problem with it on my face all day, everyday and it's the only thing I put on my kids. It lives in fridge (as she recommends for many of her products) and is a cool treat for the skin and the senses.
And here is the deal clincher for me. The Oh My Goodness. I do NOT like scents. Not one bit, and especially on the face. But stop the car, girlfriend. Denise is genius.
Never in my life, have I been more in love with a smell. Part of it is knowing that it is mother earth's blessed alchemy, not some chemical formula, and part is olfactory induced euphoria. This could go rated R, but to say that Matt likes it is an understatement. Pure Heaven.
Right this minute, order some sunscreen for you and the kids and some Comfrey Leaf lotion for you and the significant other. And look at all her amazing product lines...they're extensive and well conceived.
{If you live in Durango, you can buy her products at Durango Natural Foods or Nature's Oasis.}

From the girl who's not into product, but is certainly into anti-aging, and only the best on your skin, east and west, north and south, let me say that you deserve this. You do know the woes of traditional cosmetics, I'm assuming. To learn more go here, here, or here. She also makes make-up for those who want a natural alternative.
And Denise wants to pamper you with a wonderful give away.
She is offering a mini-kit from her Body Nourish Spa line...17 products for face and body.
(CONTAINS (1) EACH: Cleansing Facial Foam, Hydrating Facial Toner, Intensive Vitamin C Treatment, Sunshine Filter, Hydrating Eye Cream, VitaNutrient Face Cream, Hydrating Facial Mist, Facial Steam, Green Clay Refinishing Facial Mask, Daily Renewal Peel, Jelly Mask, Silk Finish Salt Scrub, Cocoa Butter Misting Oil, Comfrey Lotion, Foot Treatment, Coconut Sugar Scrub, and Hair & Scalp Treament.)
It's a fandango, folks. There will be two winners! Leave a comment and tell me what you look for in a cosmetic product and you are entered. I will pick a random winner next Friday.

congrats to heather and anna!
How lovely! I look for a high SPF and any anti-aging I can get.
ReplyDeleteMe me me me me. I need sunscreen.
ReplyDeleteIf I had the money to spare, I'd probably look for a lot more in skin care.
As it is, I just look to something not too toxic that cleans off the daily grub- like Cetaphil. But I really want to get more natural about it...

Less is more. The fewest ingredients is what I look for.
ReplyDeleteme me me!!! i need sunscreen, i do.
ReplyDeleteactually, i need a beauty regimen. period. ahem.
i look for all natural, soy-free, delicate scent if any, nothing too heavy. something to help with the crepe paper skin i've started noticing would be heavenly.
I burn so easy I am always looking for something that has sunscreen in it, and is natural, and won't make my skin super oily.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love a good give-away! If there is one thing I can't live without its a good moisturizer with high spf. I've started taking better care of my skin now that I'm getting older - or should I say now that I have the kids and they're making me older ;)
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and have been reading a bit here and there, your sense of humor cracks me up. Thanks for a good read!
What a nice giveaway! I look for products that do not cause blocked pores and if it makes me look younger then all the better :D
ReplyDeleteSounds really nice! I look for natural ingredients, a light feel, and good SPF. Would love to try it! And am definitely going to check out the sunscreen for the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle at your "beauty" regime... me too. The non fussy type.
ReplyDeleteI know it's super important to put sunscreen everyday- ugh...my problem is hate how it feels on my face- I know I should...so I am off to check out her product.(ps. love your rings)
Have sunshiney day- (with sunscreen)...ehem.
I just ordered the travel size of POWER REPAIR Facial Care and the Sierra Madre Sun Cream- I am always outside and will defnitly give this a try.
ReplyDeleteThanx Ivey :)
Oh wow, what a perfect giveaway for anyone to win!
ReplyDeleteI look for something natural, unscented and not too heavy.
Something that will help with the wrinkles I now have, but
not clog my pores so I don't get breakouts [something I never
did as a teenager, only as a woman in her 40's].
hi ivey! i'm here from free range chick and boy am i glad, it's so nice to meet you! thank you for introducing us to denise and the super salve co. too, i love the sound of everything and really can't wait to try the products (even though i'm not a product girl either). i look for organic with no chemicals. and i do need a sunscreen too (i live at the beach, and we're taking a trip to africa in a few weeks, where sunscreen is a must!) off to follow your links now! thank you!
ReplyDeleteI've tried almost every face product under the sun and have never found anything to write home about. From Dr. Hauschka to Chanel nothing gets the job done (I know, huge extremes but that's me at times--the East Coast will do that to you:) I'd love to try these products and even if I don't win the Giveaway--I'm ordering some!! Thanks for the post!!
ReplyDeleteOh me me me me me!!! As a former east coast girl gone west, I can tell you my face is C-RAAAACKING!!! Do I dare say I miss the humidity???? Naaaah, but I need help. My skin care products are phlooey right now. I was wandering the aisles this weekend looking for natural, paraben free, spf, unscented with maybe a little tint for even skin tone. Nada, zip zippo. Kiss my face use to sell something, but discontinued it. Thanks for the chance Ivey!

I look for a natural product that won't break the bank. I don't use a lot of product. I live on the front range and like you, am outside constantly so I do use a lot of lotion on my dry and cracking hands. And sunscreen on my face. I also want natural products for my daughter and try to keep her skin baby soft.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win this great giveaway.
I would love a well priced organic sun screen that I could depend on when I am working in my little garden pulling weeds to ensure that my kale this year will be as beautiful as a summers bouquet. Is there a product as delightfully scented as that of my dear rhubarb and her friend the strawberry when they are paired to be made into a luscious jam. I want my skin to be luminous like my beloved hens eggs and not like the her dry crusty feet. I would adore to be able to trust that I have found a lotion that is pure, pure as my well water that my children and I pour from the faucet in my bathroom into cold vintage metal cups ( for some reason it just tastes better that way). And then when I have found this and lavished in it I will sit on what's left of my small outdoor chairs ( why is it that puppies can't resist chewing up furniture) and sip my fizzy kombucha , double fermented and heavenly and smugly know I CAN HAVE IT ALL!!!!
ReplyDeletei think your kombucha has 'turned' and i'd love to come over and share some with you, my deer!
DeleteOh dear dear me. I've been putting oil on my western-sun-loving skin for years now, just hoping for a little moisture. And I'm with ya, I can't handle scents. Ahhhchooo! I would love a chance at finding a favorite local (ish) product to fill the drying cracks!
ReplyDeletethanks for the opportunity!
I use only natural products too and my "Beauty Regime" sounds like yours - sunscreen and maybe lipgloss. My mascara is probably too old to use and I haven't worn makeup since my wedding (2005).
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this and in the meantime I'll be looking out for these products in Denver. Do they sell it at Whole Foods?
Definitely all natural, good scent, not too greasy in a moisturizer/sunscreen. I'm lucky if my face gets washed AND gets the sunscreen on it. I'm trying to get better:) Thanks for the opportunity! I'm a mascara only kinda gal too. I can't seem to branch out! I look at ladies with eyeshadow on and I'm like how do you do that?
ReplyDeleteSuper Salve could hire you as a Marketing Director! Fabulous descriptions. And, it's nice to see so many comments from other lovely ladies (I'm sure) with minimal beauty regimens. Au natural is the way I go too.
ReplyDeleteFabulous. My only cosmetic is moisturize and sunscreen, but I am forever lingering by the Burt's Bees section in the drugstore. Would love to try some of this scent-free lusciousness!
ReplyDeleteI use her sunscreen. I'm super sensitive to crazy chemicals and can only use simple and clean products so I would love a chance to try her other items. The comfrey lotion sounds great. Thanks for the give away.
ReplyDeleteDecent price+ locally available/made+ sun protection. A redhead living in the SW needs sun protection at all times!! I have used her stuff from Nature's O!
ReplyDeletewould love to try the sunscreen - haven't found a good organic one for the fam yet.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE her sunscreen. It's all we've been using for the last couple years. What a wonderful giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI am always looking for natural ingredients...organic is good, little to no scent. No unpronounceable words, please
ReplyDeleteI just used the sunscreen and super salve for the first time on a Grand Canyon trip that I just got back from. It worked wonders, and I would love to be able to try some of their other products. I try to be careful about what products I use--I go to the "Skin Deep" cosmetics database to check things out. It's at http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/.
ReplyDeleteHmm..I look for all natural ingredients. I also want something easy to use.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely must have something natural. If something sits on my skin and is weird and fakey or smells like a plastic flower might... It goes in the trash. All natural all the way or nothing at all. :D
ReplyDeleteWow! That company sounds amazing! I'm here from Lori's blog. (:
ReplyDeleteI always check the ingredients of products I buy (which are very few). If it doesn't occur in nature, I don't want it - especially when it comes to anything I put on my children.
I love the sound of their natural facial cleanser!
OOOh thank you ! i love manuka honey and lavender in my creams !
ReplyDeletewhat a fabulous giveaway!!! natural ingredients are always a plus for me but very very difficult to find locally. You so often get some awful smell when you order "cold" online....such a great endorsement, though--will have to give this a try!
ReplyDeleteYour white sister is skeptical, and particular, as I have tried everything! My current cream and sunscreen is pretty amazing and holy cow expensive, so I am game...xo
ReplyDeleteOne that capability shows itself, I may must consider adding RSS Feeds for the blogs I would love to read instant payday loans so with
