thrifty thursday

It's thrifty thursday again. The other day a friend told me that thrift stores make her think of lonely dead people. I get that. There is an art to thrifting that employs some 'blocking out' and, at the same time, some vision. 

This weird egg thingy probably belonged to a dead person. That person may have had some lonely days but this contraption rattled around in the drawer at the dead persons house totally oblivious to that energy because utensils don't have souls. 

In walks me. I see this weird egg thingy and think two thinks.

One, it reminds me of my grandmothers.

and 

Two, Della will love the hell out of it.

There are no lonely dead thoughts there. My grandmothers have passed on, but are alive and kicking and slicing eggs in the hands of my little girl.

All that for a quarter.

One day we'll all be dead. And our stuff is just stuff. 

My grandmother had this sign in her garden.

I'm not going to tie this together all neat and tidy.

The garden calls.
