This was good. A little spicy and very fragrant
I grooved on it more than the kids, but everyone liked it.
Fall Curry
Saute one onion with two cloves garlic and two inches of chopped ginger.
add one package of Boulder marinated curry pineapple chicken...cut up
add a few cups of cubed butternut squash (mine were frozen, which made it easy)
in a proportion that feels right to you add these spices
curry powder*ground coriander*ground ginger*cardamom*turmeric*red pepper
and salt and pepper, of course
and let them sizzle on the bottom of the pan for a minute before stirring them in
and then add 1 1/2 cans coconut milk
chop a big bunch of chard up and throw in near the end
Boil pasta or make brown rice and serve!
It would be just as good without the chicken!
Have you seen this Ted talk? You should look at it.
And the pillow pet sensation? Are we done yet?
And O.M.G. Last night I had a date with a squirrel. He is packed in 'solar salt' down in the basement with three very formidable rooster heads.
In the horror, I lost my camera, but I'm not sure you guys are quite ready for it anyway.
My friend Jill helped me and I owe her something BIG. Not sure what, but I'll figure it out.
He has to cure and I have to get the smell out of my sensory memory, but know that your future has some home-made taxidermy in it.
A recipe and carnage. This is why my blog will never be what I would like it to be, as far as a broad, sweeping demographic. But I have you guys.
And I love you guys.
Thanx for reading!
Hahaha! You will always have us my dear! What a wildly fun life you live :) Bill and I are going to watch the Ted Talk tonight together. And I was so happy to hear the package arrived safe and sound and well received :) Made my day!
ReplyDeleteYummy recipe--we'll try for sure! The Ted talk was GREAT--sent it to quite a few folks and your squirrel...I can deal with it but the rooster heads freak me out! It reminds me of one Halloween in Flagstaff, out trick or treating with the kids and we happened upon the house of the new, Japanese dentist in town--they were giving out candy AND frying chicken feet on their porch at the same time. I'm sure it was an Asian delight for them but quite the "trick" for my guys--I can't imagine they planned it that way for the Trick or Treaters...or did they?? :))
ReplyDeleteI love curry and will be tryout your recipe for this crew here, just subbing the chicken for alittle Clover chicken we put in the freezer.
ReplyDeleteAdd some deer hides, a rattle snake, and a raccoon and our freezers sound about the same. It is always such a joy when I have to look for something in there!
LOL Ivey, you are hilarious. I loved your awesome and realistic comments; snaps me right out of the fog.
ReplyDeleteThis recipe looks super ono. I love Butternut Squash ANYTHING, add curry and coconut to that and it's my trifecta!!!
I don't know what to say about your squirrel; except that I am more interested than ever...and also a little scared. You read Bloggess right? She has a taxidermy obsession and people send her weird stuffed animals all the time. When you get good, you should craft something OFF THE WALL (I know you'll have no problem coming up with something) and send it to her. When she gets it and LOVES it, she will feature your blog and you will be instantly rich and famous. And you can tell people you owe your success to a dead squirrel/rooster head/snake whatever.
Sorry to steal Kim.... but to paraphrase what I think Kim meant to say is..... " And you can tell people you owe your success to your dear friend JIll who had a dead squirrel/rooster head/snake whatever."
ReplyDelete.... and lent you her Bloggess book.
ReplyDelete.... just saying.
ReplyDeleteyes jill, i'll say that! and to think that i had never read the bloggess until this week.
DeleteI love you for it, really love you for it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I saw the finished product in your newest post.
And all I can say is...in some way, I think you answered that squirrels dream.
