hello from south georgia

Thank you for your patience.
I am not dead.
I am in Georgia for my parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary.
I have been gone too long and it's so lovely to nestle down with family and friends and laugh and soak in the humidity.

I love the humidity, BTW.
I will be back here soon with lots of tales and pictures.
I promise.

That's my mom and dad. Aren't they cute?
Handsome and beautiful, actually.

There are not enough words to describe the importance of a good marriage. It affects generations of people. Not just the two getting married. You are offering a legacy of love.

I am off to drink coffee with my brother and sister in law before they hop on a plane for England to shoot grouse. My people are jazzy that way. Then I'm going to the farmer's market to buy 10 pounds of raw peanuts to stuff in my suitcase to make boiled peanuts back in Durango.

I'm a red neck that way.
xoxo

  1. I am glad to see you back in this space Ivey although I wish I'd known you were going to be in S Ga, I would have trekked over. My daughter and her family just found a house in S Ga. and will make their final move next week.
Congratulations to your parents, that is so wonderful to celebrate 50 years.
You like the humidity? Oh my , not me and I complain about it year round, especially how it affects my hair. ;)
We are big peanut eaters too, boiling and freezing about 30-40 lbs. a year. I like mine good and salty. My boys are rednecks... me, I'm just country!
    Enjoy your visit.

    1. i am leaving in the morn, but if you are ever near thomasville you must track down my sister at her store! It's downtown and called Firefly. she would treat you right!

the only reason i love the humidity is for it's anti-aging properties! the west will make one shrivelled and dry before due!

  4. sh*t girl, and I thought you must be roaming around Mexico.
Looking forward to seeing you in THREE days. And so are my kids.
We were counting all the happiness awaiting us at shared school and when I said "Miss Ivey," Col let out a big happy sigh. "Yeah, Miss Ivey." He said.

  5. When I first met my friend from the South we could hardly understand each other. We bonded over her explanation of "bald peanuts" as we laughed until we cried and wet our pants! We're friends forever now :))
