It's a little late to be spouting resolutions, but I'm going to lay it on you anyway. I made two. They are big as hell, so sit down.
Number one, I'm going to start dressing sexier. You weren't expecting that I bet. In Colorado, most women dress very poorly. Sorry girls. It's true. We are utilitarian. We are sporty. Collectively we need help. I vow to wear more high heels and skinny jeans. Done and done.
Number two isn't even about me, so I don't feel too terribly convicted, but I'm going to try to encourage. I thought it would be fun if everyone in my family came up with their own signature dish. Easy, difficult, sweet, savory, no matter...it just has to be 'your own' and you have to be able to prepare it, start to finish, all by your lonesome.
Lewis jumped right in with a perfect 'ten year old boy' recipe and he wanted me to share. It's fun, simple, and quite tasty.
Check it out...Tiggy's Rollo Cookies
pre-heat oven to 200.
A bag of Rollos
A bag of small twisty pretzels
Pecans
Lay pretzels on a cookie sheet and top with Rollos. Put in oven for 3-4 minutes. Take out and immediately smush a pecan into a Rollo, pushing it down flat into the pretzel. Our pecans were toasted, but this is not necessary. Let cool and eat! So easy. Lew has made them twice already...they don't last long around here.
His other goal is to make a lasagna that tastes 'just like that frozen kind, not like home-made.' I'll get back to you on that.
Good for you Ivey! I love getting all dolled up and try to do it at least a few times a week, not only for myself but for Mike too. It's hard to be sexy in yoga pants and a sports bra!
ReplyDeleteTell Lewis I will be sharing his recipe with my Alex, I think he devour these.
Great resolutions!!!
ReplyDeleteyes! and i couldn't agree more about the whole clothing bit. i totally rocked my early 30's on boulder's single scene. and then came the babies. now i'm more often covered in crusty bits and soaked through with milk. but, the day will come again! until then, i'll smile knowing that you're adding a sexy swagger to your step. and seriously Lewis...those look crazy-good!
ReplyDeleteWell isn't the Colorado mom "uniform" jeans and t-shirts/sweaters with danskos? I wear a uniform to work so my other uniform is exactly that. In the winter. In summer, it's khaki shorts and t-shirts/tank tops. I'll even throw in a sun dress occasionally. Don't get me wrong, I've got the heals for dress up, but don't wear them often.
ReplyDeleteI'm so going to make Lewis's treats this week!
We make the rolo cookies as well. We call them pretzel doodles - not sure who came up with the name. Love the sexier dress resolution. In Arizona we are sometimes the same - until you head to certain malls where women sport their UGG boots, skinny jeans and parka while temps are in the high 60s.
ReplyDeleteAww man, here I am at the library in my black, regulation-issue, Colorado mom-fleece covered with cat hair, deer hair, kid hair, my hair, and possibly a splotch of elk chili. I surrender. You'll have to rock the sexiness for me, please. And really, I'll be interested to hear how that works for you.
ReplyDeletemy primary goal is not to wear'laundry' the high heels are a stretch...feel free to call me out! :)
DeleteTell me when you figure out where to go when you are all dressed up...even going out on New Year's I felt ridiculous in my little black dress and heels, mainly bc it was too dang cold for that! We need somewhere to go when you're all dressed up around here, hopefully between March and October! You ALWAYS make me smile, Ivey.
ReplyDeleteTrisha
Ohmyohmy... those are Rollos.
ReplyDeleteThis alone is destroying my own resolution resolve.
Add pecans and a pretzel?
Mind blown.
Help!
Cannot deal with concept of sexy skinny jeans _and_ Rolos at once.
DeleteNot me. Nope.
i have a way of juxtaposing some weird shit, don't I?! sorry! let's just go with the rollos for now...one step at a time...seeing as how i don't own ANY skinny jeans and will have to wait for them to manifest in my closet it might be a while...rollos it is, my friend!
DeleteOh Ivey! Now we need to see a picture of you all dolled up! Let us see momma! And good for your little man and his "dish"! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love the dressing sexy goal. I can totally related to the feeling of women in Colorado. In Alaska where I live it is Carharts or casual pants (jeans) and a cotton top of sorts. Shoes.. Xtra Tuffs or hiking boots. Saves money on clothes shopping, but for sure leaves me feeling totally unfeminine.
ReplyDeleteyou are so great
