I am so excited to be joining Lady Cordelia for thrifty Thursday.
When Cordelia talks about the glories of thrifting, she is singing to the choir here. The honest to goodness truth, for me, is this. I like the element of chance, I like the gamble. Anybody can walk into Anthropology and come out with a treasure (albeit mass produced). It takes a bit of swagger to rock a thrift store. Check Cordelia out and see what I mean.
At the present moment, I am on a thrifting hiatus. I am trying to donate, not purchase, in the spirit of spring cleaning and yin and yang and such.
So I am featuring some favorites from around the house.
The furball is totally thrifted. Our humane society is also, literally, a thrift store...genius!
I painted the cat portrait, but the frame is, yes, a thrift score.
The antique Pendleton blanket was in a $5 box of goodies.
The muted paisley quilt is soft and thick. $2
The rainbow walls are my solution to anything that ails you.
The cross stitch 'viva mexico' pillow is perhaps my all time fave.
{anthropology is ripping it off as. we. speak.}
more next week!
Do you thrift?
Do you thrift?
I love a good thrift shop score! You Mexico pillow is too cool. We have an excellent Salvation Army right down the road and they do half off Wednesdays! But I have to say by far we are more of a dumpster diving family :) I'll have to show you the table Bill pulled from someones curb just this past week, it has adorable burros on it! Happy thrifty Thursday to you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy room Ivey! I would love to paint every room in my home like your walls. My favorite piece is your cat painting!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to an Anthropology store before, but I have see their website...I just can't see paying those kind of prices for anything!
Money has always been pretty limited and what we have we work hard for so I am careful about how I spend it! Plus there is this planet Earth we call home that needs to be taken care of!
I agree the humane society is a thrift store :) Love your wall of color and that pillow is perfect!
ReplyDeleteWhat great finds!!!! Had to giggle--never thought of Freddy (our rescued cocker) as "thrifted", but I guess he was!!!
ReplyDeletetotally! found you through habit of being and am linking up today with Cory and saw you there as well~ Love your treasures (and the awesome, and still thrifty, really, IKEA gauzy canopy thing- we have one too and my 2 year old calls it her "special place")
ReplyDeletehappy to have found you~
cheers from NC
beautiful! I want the thrifted cat.
ReplyDeletethis morning I am on the fence about adopting a puppy fro the local shelter (we already have two dogs.)
the thrifted cat is not helping.
love ll your finds.
Can we see the cat painting closer up because I LOVE IT and it looks brilliant!!! An artist AND a thrifter!
xo
c
those walls rock! and uhm, does your cat always tuck it's legs in to nap?
ReplyDeleteWe thrift all the time- when we lived in upstate New York I learned real quick that I could dress my babies/kids in swanky "NY city" 2nd hand designer clothes. It's like a box of chocolates...you never know what your gonna get...and it's green too! My dog & cat come from the thrift store too :)
ReplyDeleteThere used to be a Goodwill across the alley from my parents house. Many an afternoon, I'd go check the wares for the items I must have. Don't have as much time now, but I'd rather buy from thrift stores than pay full price. $100 for jeans? Really?
